It's a new month full of activities...outreach, fellowship, discipleship.
KCC Newsletter April 1

Greetings KCC Family & Friends,

It isn't easy to follow Jesus today, and it wasn't easy to follow Jesus in the 1st century either. Then and now,  faith comes under fire from many directions. Living by faith is a high-risk endeavor--not for the faint of heart. But, like the apostle Peter, through all of the hardships, you'll have the time of your life experiencing the adventure of serving the King of Kings.

Beginning Sunday, April 8th, we will start a new sermon series called, "Faith Under Fire," based on the letters of First & Second Peter. In them, we will see how God shaped a rough Galilean fisherman in to a great leader--courageous and effective. The apostle Peter was brash, impulsive, impatient, quick to speak and quick to act (and we see a lot of ourselves in him). Despite his flaws, Peter had a deep love for Christ, and his faith shines from the pages of Scripture like gold refined by fire! Through it all, we will find encouragement to continue in our walk with God, even when our  faith is under fire. If the Lord can turn a man like Peter in to a great leader, surely there is hope for you and me!

I Peter 1:2 reminds us that we're called to "obedience to Jesus Christ." I hope you'll plan to join us Sunday mornings as we examine these two short, encouraging New Testament letters filled with "Living Hope" for growing Christians. I'll leave you with this question as we begin: In your personal life, what is God asking you to do?

See you Sunday!

--Pastor Kevin

P.S. Here's a followup-thought from our Easter series, previously, that I find important for us as we move in to the apostle Peter's letters. It's an illustration by Chuck Colson: “I know the resurrection is a fact, and Watergate proved it to me. How? Because 12 men testified they had seen Jesus raised from the dead, then they proclaimed that truth for 40 years, never once denying it. [This included Peter.] Everyone was beaten, tortured, stoned, and put in prison. They would not have endured that if it weren’t true! Watergate embroiled 12 of the most powerful men in the world—and they couldn’t keep a lie for three weeks. You’re telling me 12 Apostles could keep a lie for 40 years? Absolutely impossible!”

Well, that's my followup to our "Easter Experience" this year...He is risen! (He is risen indeed!) Come Sunday morning, and we'll find encouragment from the apostle Peter for our walk with God today.
